Iam back again, as I promised you on my last post i will be giving you some basic roles I played and experiences.The Workshops for the organisation worked for kicked of on the 18 July - 30 July 2011, the workshops where divided into 3 sections of topics,
- File-Based Production Systems and Media Asset Management,
- Online Learning Platform, Methods, and Creation of Training Materials,
- New Transmitter Technologies for Radio and TV Broadcasting
For the first workshop we worked as ushering, assistants and messengers in the running of the event, it was a very tiring procedure I had to work 7 days without a weekend, that was too much, I felt like quitting but when it went on I figured that it was my profession and I should keep the good work up. The first topics of discussion were too technical so I had to ask my supervisor on some issues I was lost at, and he tried by all means to answer me in a simplified manner.
My main concern was also that the event lacked the presences of the media, I then tend to be the Journalist of the event in which I found my new profession as being a photo journalist for the events.
The events went well and were in a way all successful due to my input and work in the background, and that really motivated me that no matter the hardships, you should keep on going, I learnt a lot, as i had to put my communication skills into place, listen and then give back the responses, I worked with different nationalities on the event even if their tone was problematic at times, I had to adjust and let the workshops be a success.
Technology is also an emerging part of PR, we had a live Webinar during the 3workshops in which people who did not make it would tune in and listen and take part on asking questions during the sessions we had.

In short i had a wonderful time running the whole workshops, and by far have gained so much knowledge for what to expect when you are in the field of managing events.

It must have been an incredible experience you had at ABU.I am impressed that you didn't find it difficult for you to work even on weekends which shows me exactly that you did like what you were doing.I think the positive attitude will help you in future when you are a working adult.I have realized that it is important that one has to take things serious in order to be seen serious,hard-work and determination brings success as it did during the workshops you were working on and I believe your hard-work has been considered by your bosses.
My advise for you is to keep on having that positivity in you and you will be successful in what you are doing.Thank you for sharing with us, soon most will be joining the industry and your words of inspirationn are highly appreciated.

hello!
Seems like you enjoyed your time at ABU more so that you were somehow in-charge of that particular event. I like the part were you talked about overcoming the problematic tone of different nationalities. Language barrier is always a problem when you are in a foreign country but overcoming it shows you will be able to overcome anything in future as a PR practitioner. I have one question though, how come the media was not invited to the event?
