23rd September
The day had finally arrived. We had two events on today a corporate one over lunch and a High Tea in the afternoon. Once I walked into work I was doing name badges for the corporate event. Had to double check all the guests that were coming to make sure we did not forget anybody. Once we arrived at the venue I started setting up the registration table with the name badges, the seating plan, and the door prize.
I found the door prize idea a really valuable one because when people come in, ask if they have a business card to be put in the draw to win the raffle, not only will this get people excited to win something but you get to know who came to the event, and have their details if you’re setting up another event. Something so simple but works.
Once everybody was seated the talks started and everything went really smoothly all we had to do was take photos get the PowerPoint started and sit back and have a delicious lunch When it ended we had to pack up quickly and make our way to the afternoon event. Went back to the office to get changed and grab the banners for the event.
Once we arrived, I put the two banners down and met up with the other girls. Then we out one of the banners up and no one could find the other banner. When I put it down someone had moved it. We were all looking everywhere, and couldn’t find it so thought we must of left it back at the office. So got back to my car and started heading back, stressing of course because I thought I messed everything up. Then I was half way there and got a call that they had found it. A little relieved but upset that we had wasted time with it. So lesson learnt remember where I place things!!
After that everybody was seated and the speeches started we were able to relax for a bit, BUT not for long I was in charge of holding the microphone for questions from the audience and then giving the special guests a token bottle of wine to thank them for their time. So basically standing for ages in heels. Haha my feet were soo sore after.
Once speeches were all done with there were prizes to be one with all the raffle tickets bought going to a Children’s Charity. I think by the end of the event we were running a little late and the prize giveaway was a little rushed and there was a bit of confusion around who got what prizes, and then two names were called for one prize. It just was a bit disorganised. Will hopefully be discussed as part of the evaluation process.
I think overall everything went well, we raised some money for the Children’s Sharity and everyone had a great time!!
