Rotto Island Finish up!

Hey everyone!

It brings me great joy to be able to say I have now finished my placement at Rottnest Island Authority. My final few days there I was able to experience the Island first hand again, the first just to assist with another business conference, and the second was the final showdown of the event I had been first hand coordinating – the Basin rescue celebrating 100 years of Tourism on the Island.

Overall, it was a great day to finish up on, I was really given a sound understanding and insight into what an actual event day entails, including the following of running sheets accordingly, and how things always go astray! But nevertheless things seemed to run smoothly and all the guests and family remembers who attended on the day where very pleased with our efforts.

If there is one main lesson learnt for me at my internship, and especially on this event day, it would be the quality of TIME MANAGEMENT. Everything comes down to time, including consistency contributing to overall event effectiveness. There have been times during my placement where caters have run quite later for the delivery of a conference groups lunch, and ultimately it reflects upon RIA as an organisation, and myself and Helen- the conference event manager.

My final day on the Island was sad, it almost seems like another little country away from Perth over there! I have learnt so much, and although at times it has been hard for me, I found that putting in the right amount of effort was why my experience was so valuable. I have made some great friends and contacts, and now feel a lot more secure and confident in entering the wide world of PR in my years to come.

Good luck to you all,
