So my time interning at Infamous Events is nearing the end. I have two days left to work at the company early next week. Getting sick in the middle of it all really made things tough, especially when we had real deadlines to meet!
Over the past few weeks I have been managing the online presence for Infamous Events... specifically it's Facebook Page and it's blog. This is ever evolving, and new things have become available even on the Facebook page in the short time I have been working here.
One new feature on the Facebook page is it actually shows you how far your posts are getting, how many people they are reaching and can measure how many people are reading and commenting on the posts in exact figures. Now this only for the past week, where there hasn't been a whole lot to announce on there, but you can see how much it changes when you do post something, even something small. It keeps the companies name fresh in peoples minds, and from the data you can see the impact it has for a few days.
You can see how many new likes the page gets too which is also great.
From this we can see that Facebook could be even a more valuable tool than we thought, as you can actually see the impact just one post has. It's a lot harder to get real figures of the impact your work is having utilising other sources.
The owner has now obviously decided he will using the Facebook page a lot more!

Hey Scott,
I’m also in charge of the Facebook page at my work and have, like you, found the new monitoring features extremely helpful! At first, the page was going really well and the likes were soaring. However now the activity has died off and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to keep the number of likes increasing? How was it that you initially recruited ‘likers’ of your page and have you been able to keep the page exciting and enticing since? Best of luck for your last few days!

Hey Scott,
I love the insights section, I check it every morning at work experience and think it's the best tool invented to monitor posts etc. My boss couldn't understand what it was for ages, he actually thought I played some weird game every morning! I too have struggled to keep people interested in the page but find daily posts are always good to build reach. Great post!

Hi Ruby,
Sorry for the late reply.
The company I am doing my internship with is a music promotions company so there's always a lot we can post to keep the page active. One thing we've been doing recently is simply posting music videos from bands that are on an upcoming tour and a simple statement like "Only three weeks away, get your tickets ASAP they are selling fast!" or posting some recent interviews with the bands. We are announcing another tour next week (however my official time will be finished by then, but I said I was happy to keep helping out where I can) so we've just been dropping a few hints as to what it will be and getting people talking/guessing.
I think just posting anything relevant is good because it keeps your page active and keep the organisation fresh in peoples minds as they will keep seeing it pop up on their timeline. Infamous Events always have a lot to post so it's pretty easy.
As for getting the initial likers, I think a lot of people found the company page through event pages (as a host). To get some more people on the page in the past few weeks we've got some local bands with a lot of "fans" already to post a link to the Infamous Events Facebook page. That has definitely helped get a few more people on the page.
Hope this helps Ruby. I'm sure you could try what we've done in some way that's relevant to the company you are working with.
