CAMPUS: LUCT
Hello everyone....
In my third week of my placement, my supervisor
came to me, she explained to me about the project they were doing in our sector
(information and public relation) which was 'breadbasket'. Breadbasket is a
project which ministry of agriculture works hand in hand with customers
(farmers) on current issues concerning agricultural activities and sharing some
ideas. It was broadcasted every Wednesday at national radio (RB2); allowing
the public to call on air and ask questions. My supervisor asked me what I can
do to make it well known.
As a creative technology university student
I thought about social networks, thought about which one to choose for the
project to be well known, then I told her “I recommend we open a facebook page,
add farmers and mostly youth as they are not taking part in agricultural
activities and they spend most of their time on facebook, this way we can make
them participate”. Facebook as a social network is popular nationwide and it
will bring about initiatives and sharing of ideas from customers (farmers) as
the page will post media releases, photos of any attended event, upcoming
events and current issues e.g. diseases that are affecting livestock and share
ideas with farmers on how to solve such problems.
I opened up the facebook page and it was going
great as most of the farmers I was adding were seeing it as a good and
innovative strategy, as now was easy for them to reach the ministry of agriculture.
My supervisor congratulated me for what I did and she assigned me to manage the
page. I had more followers and lot of farmers commenting every day. This
motivated me to work hard to satisfy them, because I was a public relation
persons and I was there to serve them.
If you want to visit, go to: breadbasket@facebook.com
This is my design for the page:
Thank you!!!
