SELIBE-PHIKWE MARKET DAY

Hello again

I told you that I will be back with more amazing experiences i had during my internship, hope you were patiently waiting for I have something interesting to share.

Selibe-Phikwe market day is a day in which small entrepreneurs in the town get the chance to showcase their talents and sell their products. Selibe-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) was in the organizing committee and i got the chance to be part of this amazing experience.

The Public Relations Office at  SPTC was responsible for sponsorship and informing the community about the day. The preparations for the day started on January until end of February 2012. Meetings regarding the day's preparations were held every Tuesday, 2PM at Re Ka Kgona Centre. During these meeting there were a lot of things discussed concerning the day. Among them include: 

• the venue
• time
• arrangement ideas for the day
• how to inform people about the day
• who to invite

I made invitations letters regarding the day to the relevant people, wrote spot announcement which was announced on RB2 and made an advertisement which was published in Phikwe Bugle. 

The big day was held in February 25th and there was a large turn up for it, something that made me proud. The objective of the day were attained as small entrepreneurs got to sell their products, articles were written about the day in local newspapers and the talent of the Selibe-Phikwe community was made to be known to the whole country.
