Hello again
Botswana National Football Team 'THE ZEBRAS' qualified for AFCON (African Cup Of Nations). This was the first time ever for the team to qualify for this competition and Batswana's excitement could be seen by a blind person. The nation was proud and found it fit to support the national team in every way that they can. There were some Zebras t-shirts that were made to be sold to the nation. The money from selling these t-shirt was given to the team as a form of support and gratitude for making the nation proud.
National colors were worn every Friday from the start of the AFCON to show support and national pride. Selibe-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) made it easy for its employees to wear national colors every Friday. The Public Relations office ordered Zebras t-shirts and sold them to their employees from the office. This was a fun thing to do except that some had to undress infront of me, well I am talking about those that are not shy.
SPTC did not only sell Zebras t-shirts to its employees, there were prayers that were held every Friday at the council chamber. Pastors from different churches were invited to come and preach the word of God and pray for the national team. On the first AFCON game for Zebras there was a massive prayer, people were singing and the chamber was decorated with blue, black and white (Botswana national colors). It was wonderful as people were all united, there was happiness in their faces as they sang joyful songs to support the national team. There were some photos that were taken during the day and this was done by the Public Relations office as it was the one that organized this event.
The prayers helped in building a strong relationship between the employees and helped in socializing within the organization as they stood, clapped, smiled and sang together. I saw new faces during these prayers hence it helped in knowing some of the organization's employees.

Doing prayers like this by SPTC helps the organisation in building its good name and to be praised by the community. The organisation did not only support the national team but it also supported one of the nation's VISION 2016 PILLARS, the pillar of 'A UNITED AND PROUD NATION'.
I hope that you have enjoyed this post, until next time...

I remember that, and i think all the industry were doing that as even at the Ministry of Agriculture were told to buy them and wear them every Friday. Zebras playing for the first time at AFCON was one of the things which gave me smile every morning to work.
Supporting the national team is a good strategy that not only enhances the reputation of an organization but it also helps in establishing a positive relationship with the community.
