My first day at work was rather scary and nerve wrecking, I just didn't know what to expect or how to carry myself around. Frankly Public relations work is not just a walk in the park, it takes more than a will and dedication to do it. Working with Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union was really an opener as I was guided through The PR world and the experience gave me the confidence i needed to execute what I had learnt throughout the entire PR course.
I had to wake up at 6am everyday as it took me an hour to reach my workplace,this was a challenging experience for me, but the best part was getting compliments from my boss for punctuality.I was given a tag which I used to enter and leave the building which really made me feel welcomed. I was told there was an upcoming annual broadcasting symposium so every PR work i would be doing would be in preparation for the event.As a major event I would have an opportunity to gain experience from it.
It really was a dream come true for me as I was exposed to a lot of PR duties, my writing skills also went high a few notches, customer relations was also part of my duties and my articulation skills were improved.Basically everything i learnt in class was put to test and this job sure helped strengthen my PR skills.

It is good that how your work placement is being beneficial for your future career. Also I think everyone (including me) feels scared on the first few days of the placement as we all feel pressure for being new.I understand that It is pretty hard to get up so early in the morning just to be punctual for work. For that I feel lucky as I only start work at 10am. All the best to you in your placement!
It sounds like your placement is challenging but it seems like the benefits are worth all your efforts, improving on your writing and communication abilities and building your confidence and PR skills is such valuable experience for you! Good luck with duration of your placement :)

it was interesting to read your post as you says something about punctuality. Wherever we are, everyone is screaming for time. It is best that we interns not waste any of our bosses time. It may affects our uni's image as well as our own evaluation as an intern. It might be very small things to care about but time is precious for everyone. No matter what excuses for us to be late, it surely going to be an incident that we hope we never have done at the first place. It is truly no harm to be punctual and arrive early at any meetings, work or conferences.

Well it looks like you had a good placement.Time is everything in public relations especially during crisis so it is good that you are leaning about the importance of punctuality.Every PR practitioner must have communication skills.Public relations is all about communicating and establishing positive relationships
