My Experience and the last post of the four!

Hello everyone,

In my previous post i mentioned the topic video editing. Because Video Interview was a value add to our clients, all employees in the organization have to learn to work on the video editing software. We use the 'Pro CS 6' software and being a first timer in this software, it was a little difficult at the start.

Finally, i manage to pick up the skills and guess what. After editing the whole clip, the software decides to die on me! I had to re-edit the entire clip and that took up half a day of my time. I was feeling pretty annoyed but went ahead and redid the whole clip. After redoing, the issue happened again. This time round, with the help from my colleague, i realize the issue was with the desktop itself and not the software. Basically, i wasted my time redoing the editing. I was pretty annoyed but was glad that i managed to get the hang of things.

This will be my last blog post! I have learnt much in my two months with a boutique agency in the Business to Business technology industry.

I was given a chance to speak with the local media and the media overseas. So here's what i encountered, when i had to call the media in India. We could hardly hear each other over the phone due to the "not so good reception" on their end and the difference in accent.
From this incident, I learnt that emailing is the best form of communication with the media in India. I also had the chance to draft media advisories, video briefing document and drafting client reports.

Last of all, the interesting and fun practice in this organization is the contribution of blog posts on a regular basis from all employees discussing the current news on social media trends and traditional public relations etc.

This whole experience was amazing and i would not have the to chance experience it if it was not a compulsory unit for my course. Thanks Curtin for making this great exposure happen!

Ps: Curtin girls we are graduating!

With much Love,

Hi Yi Jing,

I am reminded of the graphic designer at my internship organisation when you talk about having to re-edit your video clip several times. She was responsible for the design of our quarterly newsletter, which went through several changes from many different people throughout the organisation. I can definitely feel your frustration, but as you have mentioned, you do learn something from your past experiences and hopefully won't repeat it again!

All the best,

Frank

Hi Yi Jing!

I too had to do some video editing during my internship and I know how frustrating it can be. It all seemed very difficult at first when using the software, but with time it actually isn't as hard as it seems.

It might sound tiring, but even though you had to re-do the editing more than once, I'm sure this actually helped you mastering the software as well. I know for me it was definitely the case, as tiring and demotivating it was; at the end of the day I got to know my way through the software. Practice makes perfect they say!! :)

Plus now you also got to know where the whole process bugged, making you even more knowledgeable about video editing.

Congratulations on your graduation!

Hi sweetheart,

I'm so jealous that you got to work with a video-editing software as I have always wanted to learn how to edit videos. I am glad that you managed to have a hand on working videos as I believe that it would definitely be a value added skill of you that you'll be able to give to your future boss in the PR industry.

Good luck for your future endeavors and cliche as it may sounds, friends forever!
