For the past weeks, I have been involved heavily in the drafting of articles for the company's newsletter for the year of 2013.
The upcoming edition of the newsletter will be in the form of a magazine for the first time in over 30 years since the founding years of the company, so meaning a lot more articles have to be churned out and the allowance for mistakes have to be closed to nil as it would incur a hefty cost to reprint the magazines.
So far I have drafted articles for a few of the company's major clients, describing the collaborations between the 2 and how Kingsmen have aided their clients in their development over the years. I would deem the job as one of the most stressful task I have handled to date. Reason being first, this is the corporate world, and unlike school, people are not merely going to just mark and grade your work but also evaluate and judge you based on your writing. Secondly, the pressure of deadlines. The company is planning to have the newsletter printed and ready to be put out in the first quarter of 2013, hence the pressure to complete the work is immense.
All the articles assigned to me have since been completed and sent for approval of my superior. (Fingers crossed)
Besides the articles, I have also been involved in the planning of the annual general meeting of the company which will be held somewhere in January.

Hi! Another great post to read! That's awesome that you get to draft articles for a newsletter! Here at my hotel, we have no newsletter--instead news is put up on a bulletin board daily relating to customer satisfaction, letters from customers, etc... which someone else handles.
I know what you mean about the pressure to do well. I had a little hiccup the other day (which I will blog about later) and it was horrible because this is the real world and mistakes can cost you, not like in school.
The one thing I really love about PR is the writing and I would love to get to do more of it! Sometimes I wonder if I'm better off on the media side of the PR/media divide!
My hotel is also having an annual meeting to discuss 2013's plans which hopefully I will be allowed to sit in on as I am curious to see how a PR manager prepares for a new year.
Anyway, I wish you good luck with the newsletter! That would be such a cool thing to add to you PR393 report!
