Hello guys,
It’s time to give you some
feedbacks of the competition I have been launching recently "All Africa
Junior Golf Team Championship". There had been a second press conference
on April 17 where the trophy and the official equipment (shirts, caps and golf
balls) of the Mauritian team were presented. This presentation was provided by Sun Resorts
Group, the major partner of the All Africa Junior Golf Team Championship 2013
and the Mauritian Golf Federation, together with the Mauritian Ministry of
Youth and Sports, the MTPA, Air Mauritius and TaylorMade. Christopher Curé, the
President of the Mauritian Golf Federation said he was "pleased to
introduce the young players who proudly wear the national colors in this
competition where the best African players compete with future Golf world
champions."

I had a great opportunity to
work among the organising team of this event from the start to the end. Behind
this international competition there had been lots of work for my colleagues
and I, for example, looking actively for sponsors, organising press conferences
for media coverage, sending press releases after each conference,
contacting and inviting the press and important celebrities for the opening and ending
ceremony. Therefore, I have been able to acquire several characteristics such
as, working in a rush and in a stressing environment as organising an event of
this extent is not something easy. Also, I made several contacts with
journalists and team members of different countries. Indeed, I really felt at ease
within such an environment where communication and public relations were at the
centre of it. It was an amazing experience I would never forget.

Hey Charlotte, good to see you got the chance to launch an international event. Not everybody can do it because of the pressure that comes with it. I agree that public relations has a lot to do behind the scenes and the fact that you made yourself known to people gives you an advantage of better job opportunities. Enjoy the rest of your internship!

Hello Charlotte,
Wow!! It seems that your internship was great and had the opportunity to experience quite interesting things.
It is through these events that we see the most interactive and lively side of this profession. The work may be demanding but when everything went smoothly you can feel proud of yourself and of what you have achieved.
I also believe that it is important to have this hands-on/direct interaction with others to create those relationships and networks that are so important in the PR field. Relationship building and interpersonal skills remains vital for our profession, without those we can find ourselves striving in this industry even if we have a wide range of expertise.
So give it your best as usual and take in the maximum as you can from your internship.
Cheers,
Benoit de Lapeyre
