Greetings Everyone!
It has been a week now since I ended my Internship. It feels weird getting up and not looking forward to going to work but at the same time it is also a good break from the hectic life.
Before I ended my internship, we did a radio advertisement for the next in take in Curtin. As a Mass Communication student, this was a piece of cake job for me as I am used to doing things like this. Early that morning, we set up the equipment and had a few practice rounds before carrying on with the recording. after we were done recording, Ian who is in-charge of the Marketing Communications & Publications asked me to try out for the ad. and later on he proceeded with the editing, which I am familiar with.
Besides that, I was given a chance to take pictures of the corporate gifts and was also taught how to use the software by adobe: lightroom for editing, which i really found very easy to use.
Overall, it was a good experience working with them. While working, I learned a few things.
1. Reliability
As PR practitioner( or any other professional) , clients rely upon us to get a particular job done. They expect us to deliver a hundred percent to them to accomplish the desired results.. Building a reputation takes years, but it takes a few seconds ruin it.The people working with Corporate Comm are very reliable as they take their jobs seriously. Besides that, They are working for a company that has a huge name in the market and would not want to tarnish it.
2. Attitude
Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. - Raymond Chandler
as the saying goes, the right attitude is what u need to do anything. Nothing is impossible if you want to learn something. from my experience, I worked with five people with different backgrounds. I learned a lot from them. for example Ms Marcella (Press releases), Ian (marketing and advertising), Bobby (Corporate social responsibilities), Flynn and Yee boon (photography, editing). everything in life is based on ones attitude, how far do you want to go? how much do you want to learn? only you can answer these questions honestly. Working with these people, I could see this in them and besides, they are very willing to help you with anything.
3. Passion
Passion is your MOTIVATION. If you are passionate about something, everything else will fall to place. how passionate are you about something? I'm passionate about photography. i love preserving history and places, making people look beautiful about themselves in pictures. As days go by, I learn new things about photography.
In the field of PR, my passion fits in best in the advertising field. as much as words sell, Pictures too do sell instantly.
here's a link to how to use lightroom.

Hi Parvither. I am about to write my last post and wanted it to be a reflective blog about my placement as well a,s this being my last PR unit at Curtin.
It is quite sad to know that the last PR unit was a rather reflective one; and you do not realise it until you start doing your report.
Your post is rather motivating and educational. I too agree that passion is your motivation.
I wish you luck in finding something in the advertising field and with exams if you have any.
