Hello everyone! I am Edlyn Chee from Curtin
University based in Bentley. Just like everyone else taking this unit, I am
currently doing my placement with a corporate event management company known as
Networking WA down in the city of Perth. I have just completed the first ten
days of my internship and am looking forward to the next upcoming ten days
working with Networking WA. If you click on the caption below the picture, it will bring you to Networking WA's website with a side profile of myself and a better picture of the company itself!
I started this placement early in July
during the winter break just to get a head start of everything before the new
semester begins. As a public relations student, I am quite aware the importance
of events in the public relations philosophy which brought me to approach
Networking WA as an opportunity to expand my knowledge on events which I may go
for in my future career.
Alright, enough about myself and more on
the company. Networking WA is a corporate event management firm that specialize
in providing services for corporate, associations and charities. These services
include event management, membership, networking events, marketing events as well
as fully managed services. After working for the first few days with Networking
WA, I realize that events are not as easy as it seems as it requires in depth
research on information needed to plan and make sure it is align to the whole
objective of the event.
I can go all day blogging about what are
the essentials on event planning but I shall cut it short and update more on my
work experience soon! In the mean time, I will be volunteering to help up one
of the events held this week.
Many of you might not know this, but
Homeless Persons Week falls from the 5th-11th of August which
is this week and there will be a range of activities and events held during the
week. I will be helping out on this 10th August 2013, Saturday for
the Homeless Persons Walk which is a short route around the city of Perth to
spread the awareness to make changes and actions to the issue of homeless
people in Australia.
Now this is the part where you guys come
in! As university students, I think we should definitely take part and held a
helping hand to the homelessness of Australia. What better way to show your
support and have fun with the entertainment during the walk and what’s best, it’s
completely free!
Visit the Homeless Persons Week Facebook Page
for more information and RSVP under The Walk,
or
email adriana@networkingwa.com.au to
let us know that you’ll be there! J
Bring a friend or family member, in fact
come in groups!
The more the merrier!
See you guys there! :D
