"ChekSa Deal ! " Radio advert

Hi everyone!!
Some time ago i had the great opportunity to write a radio ad for a service that my company is offering. I was actually choc that such task has been given to me.  The ad was about a website on which professionals can promote their companies and provide pictures to the customers.
I didn't know much about the website and felt a bit lost as everyone at the company was asking how i didn't know it. So i decided to make some research to be able to make a proper advert. I also listen to the first advert and found it not interesting at all. It was not catchy at all and sounds a lot like any advert that we can hear on the radio everyday. I remember that in class we did a lot about the importance of radio adverts and how it can boost a company image. So i didn't want to make a normal radio advert and wanted to propose something different to catch the attention of the listener. I found interesting a sound from the first version and decided to include it in my ad.
Before starting to write the advert i had to make notes to know the length which was 30 seconds (doesn't sounds long but it is when you talk as you speak faster than you read) and i had to include some little words that my boss asked for. I read a lot of articles on the internet and found some tips that really helped me which included:
-Know your target audience
-Find ways to attract the attention
-repeat the name at least 3 times
-leave 1 or 2 seconds for bumper music
-write like you talk
-use 60-70 words only
-most important info in the last sentence
-include pauses
After taking into accounts these tips i realized that to attract more the customers i would use creole as the language because the website is a creole word and it was more appropriate. It was a bit challenging because some times my creole is not as good as some people but it was quite nice to do it and i had a lot of fun. The text was more a dialogue between two guys and was a bit funny and well appreciated by my co workers.
As i am working with the guy who will produce the advert i could tell him exactly how i wanted the ad to sound like. However i will have to wait for the moment as the advert will only be produce in some time. I had the opportunity to learn a lot about how to make an advert and how it sounds like before any modifications and it was very interesting to listen to the difference between the final product and the making off.
Radio adverts are very important and there are many things to take into account when you are making one. You have to choose the proper radio to target your audience and know perfectly the pic time which are very expensive but worthy. This experience helped me to learn more about these details that can make the success of a company and how words can be important.
I hope that this post can help you and most importantly i hope tat you are all having fun during your internship!

I was asked to write the script for a radio advert for an event my company is holding and I agree it was harder than it sounds! 30 seconds doesn't seem that long until you have to write a script! I found your research helpful when writing my own advert too and talking with the producer and the voice actor it really surprised me the length of time that goes into such a small radio ad. You also, i found, have to be quite flexible on the day or have some options within the script in case certain words or sentences don't work with that particular actors voice. We changed ours around slightly after hearing it back but not too much. All in all it was a great day and a great learning experience to be a part of, and I must admit, I love hearing the ad I made on the radio! :)
