My last day.

Today is the last day of my 20-day internship with Cannings Purple. As many of you would have already experienced, it's definitely a day of mixed emotions. On one hand I'm glad to be finishing what I set out to achieve, on the other hand it does feel like the experience is being cut short.

Throughout any internship you establish relationships with the people in the office and in this case I've been particularly fortunate to have a very approachable and supportive staff around me. As I started my internship after a public holiday, I end up finishing on a Monday. Due to Monday not being a big party day in the business world, the staff threw a small drinks session for me on Friday, which was great.

These 20 days have gone by very quickly, but at the same time I feel like I have done a lot with this time. Today it's almost like no one wants to give me any work since they know I'll be finishing up, so I'm making sure I have all the content I need for my report and clearing up the computer I've been using.

I almost have too many experiences to work with for my final report, it's already over the recommended word limit and has a crazy amount of appendices. The staff at Cannings Purple have been an amazing resource for me over the last month. With a variety of backgrounds they have been extremely useful in giving me advice and assisting with my work. For example there are a couple of staff with backgrounds in journalism, one with 40 years experience as a senior journalist and editor. He made himself available to me to look over my drafts before they were sent out and his tips have certainly improved my formal writing standards.

There is no doubt in my mind that I am better prepared for the industry as a result of this internship. I have been fortunate in my opportunity to work at Cannings Purple. In my time here I have dealt with a variety of clients and produced many different types of deliverables. I have sat in on important meetings both internal and with clients, had the chance to contribute to presentations and write up documents on behalf of senior staff members.

Overall I have had a perfectly rounded experience, giving me an idea of what to expect in the future and also plenty of different facets of the business to write about in my report. Thank you Cannings Purple. 

If anyone else is looking for future work experience I would highly recommend them, they are open to having interns in the office so give them a call.
