I have learned from Networking WA several tips towards an effective event planning. There are several steps needed to be taken appropriately in order to come up with a successful event.
First of all, brainstorming for creative ideas to host an event is something very important in order to stand out from the crowd. There are multiple types of events and it takes new and fresh ideas to make a difference. In the workplace, Rebecca and Adriana guides us interns through brainstorming by making us shout out keywords that were first came out from our mind and used it as a channel to follow through towards planning events.
An example I had during my internship was to brainstorm for future corporate events for next year. We have discussed a lot, from picking the right theme, to acquiring the right speaker for events, to the designs of invitations and the overall necessities for the event. We also had a budget on our line where we are required to come up with low cost ideas, presumably sticking towards DIY as it can be effective at the same time. Rebecca gave us useful tips by getting inspirations through looking at pictures from Pinterest, as well as putting our imaginations to another level.
The images below are a few examples we did at work for some of the events organised over the period in my internship:
Unique way of creating an invitation to get people's attention!
Set up on the recent Escape event:
The theme is about nature and relaxation for the guests to enjoy the event

The recent La Soiree A Paris Event at Linneys:
Basically, there are many ways to make an event more interesting! I have learned a lot from Networking WA in terms of brainstorm, planning and organizing this ongoing process to a successful event. I will be completing my internship next week and it was certainly a great experience actually getting the chance working together with them. Till then to my last post from my internship!

Hi Edlyn.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with Networking WA. My internship with Cannings Purple did not involve a lot of event work so It's interesting to hear about different experiences, especially as events can be quite fun.
I imagine events are a key element of Networking WA's business. In my experience events can be very rewarding but often require a lot of work. They will often call for employees to work outside of regular hours in the planning and execution. Despite that, they are a great way to meet people and attract new business. When you have been involved in organising an event and it runs well it's a great feeling.
One of the essential (and often most difficult) parts of an event is collecting feedback from attendees. Did Networking WA employ a particular strategy for collecting feedback? Surveys for example.
The images you posted are fantastic and I'm sure they made the events look great. Did the staff at Networking WA put those arrangements together or is there an external supplier that they use on a regular basis?
It sounds like you have had a very rewarding and active internship experience. Maybe with a bit of luck you'll even get invited back to some of the future events you helped to plan!
Cheers,
Richard.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the great comment on events. Yes, i quite enjoy my internship with Networking WA as it allowed me to get a lot of hands on experience where some were out of my expectations too!
As for the post event agenda, we collect feedbacks from our attendees mostly through the use of social media. Attendees will comment on our Facebook page on what they were impressed on as well as giving constructive feedbacks on what could have done better.
As for the arrangements of events, we mainly seek for sponsors for venue and food, decorations such as flowers in the above images are sponsored by Beans and Bunches as it matches well with our theme, 'Escape' VIP event. However, as for setting up the events, we from the Networking WA team are responsible with the overall process of the event.
I have definitely enjoyed learning a lot about events and the feeling after a great event is amazing!
Thanks again for the comment and have a nice day! :)
