Welcome to PR Internship - YOUR opportunity to put everything you have learned over the past years at university into practice and to get a thorough insight into what public relations is like "in the real world". This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students. Please also see http://http://printernship-reflections2.blogspot.com.au/ for more reflections.

Public Relations Internship, 3rd Blog for Cancer Support Association "Fundraising, Dying Computers and Events Department"
28th October, to 1st November last week before report due.
The pressure is on, previously since the second week I have been poached by the fundraising and events team to help plan and write reports for upcoming events.
I have been given the task of writing reports for the Christmas raffle and the Wellness News magazine sponsorship drive. This takes significantly more time to do than preparing social media posts but I think I have found a good balance between 2.5 days at CSA, 1.5 days at uni and work hours, so I am happy enough as the new events work is quite interesting.
I find that the events reports are kind of like an excessive checklist of features that the occasion will entail, its important that all points are covered like security that is needed, schedules, crisis plans, auctions and items that need to be organised.
In other news the Marketing manager is on leave for a while and this has led to the hiring of a new replacement marketing manager, which means that over the next few weeks it will be a big learning curve for the 2 marketing staff who are both under 2 months in their positions. Particularly in the organisation’s most important season in the Christmas period which is traditionally a time of public generosity and community support, so I will still be helpping them as well.
My laptop has blue screened of death (but will hopefully recover)so I have put together an old desktop computer with spare computer parts I found around the office that were not in use, this week should be interesting...
