The lobby of the hotel is filled with Christmas songs that guests will automatically hummed along to the tune. It has been a week over and I was given an opportunity to witness and to be part of an event of celebration of Christmas. Not only that, Imperial Hotel has set up an ongoing CSR project to bless the less fortunate during this time of the year. Where as, this CSR project acts as a decoration to the upcoming festive season.
When the guests step into the lobby, Christmas decorations made out of polystyrene were seen displayed. Among all the decorations, the big gingerbread house attracted most of the guests to take a photo or just to take a look for curiosity purposes. What's so special about this gingerbread house is that it acts as a store where it sells Christmas cookies and collectables bookmarks design by the advertising team in which is under the Sales and Public Relations Department. The team came up with this concept - two in one concept! The amount earned at the gingerbread house will be given to SCCS - Sarawak Children's Cancer Society as charity rewarding this children with hope and miracles on this festive season. I have learnt that is a good way to give back to the society for a good cause.

On the other side, Imperial Hotel has also organised a Christmas Eve dinner celebration. This was a buffet style dinner where the night was filled with Christmas games, live bands playing Christmas songs, lucky draw prizes and of course not to forget - Santa Claus! This event is organised to celebrate the holiday spirit with the society. I was part of the team in helping with the preparation of the event.
Before the event started, the manager gave a brief explanation on different job tasks, as well as, the flow of the event on how it should go. Internal communication with all respective employees is needed to be done well so that the message can be send across to the employees loud and clear. If one mistook the message, he or she might be doing the opposite of what the manager has told them to do in which can cause the flow of the event to be disturbed.
Christmas is all about giving! For those who has joined us for the event, was given Christmas cookies as a door gift. Not only that, there was a photo session with Santa right to the end of the dinner celebration. Since polaroid camera is a new trend item, the camera was used to help those who wanted to take picture with Santa with an amount of money. This money is for the SCCS helping out the association. The pictures taken would instantly be given to the guests. In a rush before the event, I was asked to design the poster for the photo taking with Santa. Though it was a rush, I managed to pull it off before the event itself. Overall, helping out in the event helps me to observe the flow of the event and how situations were handle when things went out of control.

Agree with you, internal communication with the employees are very important to ensure the whole corporate workers carry out the project accordingly and follow the same direction.
Hi Lim Min Yuan, glad you learnt something from my post. I noticed when the communication is not clear that night, the flow of the event was a bit messy, but after proper and internal communication is done, the flow of direction is the same and the flow of the event for that night was smooth.
