Day 1 of internship, first reflection

Today is my first day as an intern for Agua Bendita Australia. My first thought this morning was “what am I going to be working on today?” I hadn’t had a clue with what was going to happen, especially with the fact that I wouldn’t need to get ready to go to an actual office… My room and laptop was considered as an office! I now had to treat this space as a working environment with no temptation of getting distracted with knowing that at any time I can stop everything to have lunch, browse the internet, laze on the couch or even consider sleeping in.

This morning Maria my supervisor/online store manager called me for an assignment, my first project for Agua Bendita. At first I was nervous and wanted to prove to her that my assignment is top notch and that I was a good intern. Most of all I didn’t want to disappoint her on the first day.

Maria filled me in the background as to what she wanted me to focus on, it consisted writing a report about social media channels, back then Agua Bendita Australia was in the process of launching it’s first social media channel – Faceebook. This was a perfect opportunity for me. I was incredibly focused and motivated in this report that once I had completed it, I emailed a copy off to her as well as printed a hard copy and dropped it off at the boutique store in Claremont (store that now has closed down due to high rent).

My thoughts on today was, even though Agua Bendita Australia is still starting up and isn’t known yet to the public, I see a lot of potential. By seeing how Agua Bendita official (Colombia based) is succeeding example appearing on U.S Sports Illustrator 4 consecutive year, the Australian franchise will take time to launch and start up but with patience and using good public relations, marketing and communications strategies it will end up being on the same level.
