Daily News Digests or News Checks

One of my main duties throughout my internship was the Daily News Digests (DND) or News Checks.

Most interns would have DND's to do.
It 's basically checking the news related to the particular client you are working on. You have to do it everyday, usually in the morning and you have limited time to search, summarize everything and pass the information to your supervisor. I had to do DND's for two clients. TripAdvisor and HongKong Disney land, it was interesting to do the research everyday and read and summarize the articles because I was a big fan of both clients and doing this was more of a hobby than a task.

A few tips:

Know how to search for news, when I initially began to do this, it rather seemed impossible to find news on local outlets, but then I was using a wrong method to search, I tried to rely on Google, then realized Google doesn't show you all news, so made a list of all the local news outlets with a travel section for TripAdvisor and visited the site daily for information. Then it because easy, I struggled with time though, I only had 75 minutes to research, make the summaries and convert it to the appropriate format, however as time went by I managed to become faster and faster at it.

I learnt time management, proper research method and got to read whole lot of interesting articles.

I found your post an interesting read as I was tasked to do the Daily News Digests, well, at my company it was called media monitoring.

It was really hard for me too in the beginning to miss coverages. However, I started using some Google search tricks which I believe has helped me to attain what I needed.
