The final day of internship draws near and so does the completion of my degree in Mass communication. For 3 years I have been preparing to face the real world and this last unit has exceeded my expectations in terms of exposure and taste of the professional world.
Throughout our studies we have learned numerous theories and concepts and what i have realized is that each of these needs to be adapted to the context in which we are evolving as a professional. Each job offer comes with its own organizational culture which varies from field to field and from country to country. In the Mauritian context; some practices may vary in terms of how the communications field operates, but the one thing that pertains throughout the world is that Communications is the key to success for any project.
In any given case, the ability to communicate information efficiently is what will get the organization to perform at its best. Throughout my internship, I have had the opportunity to work in close collaboration with various other fields such as Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, Art Direction and Community management which are closely linked to the Communications field through which I have gathered valuable experience in terms of knowledge and networking.
The last day of my internship will also be the day before I officially jump into the professional world as i have been offered a permanent job in the communications department of the organization. I will be in charge of creating a proper structure for communication for the music label as well as recruiting a team to assist me in operating the department.
One journey ends and another begins...
Hoping that you all have enjoyed this last unit and wishing you all best of luck for whatever comes next...

This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students.
