It's amazing the difference a week makes when an event is approaching. As soon as i walked into the office this morning, there was definitely the feeling of ARGH THE EVENT IS NEXT WEEK!!
The morning was spent, responding to emails, finalising criteria for the Men in Black Ball - including auction prizes, guests etc. Since i have now been crowned "Queen of Newsletters" in the Momentum office, it was then my job to write one last newsletter, urging readers to "book now!" "don't miss out" and the like. This newsletter was going to be our last chance to gain peoples interest for the event and urge them to come along and support such a worthy cause.
The newsletter contained a short introduction on Grant Meldrum, the ambassador for Soldier On - an organisation which supports past and present soldiers affected by mental health issues. Grant will be the guest speaker at the ball next weekend, and will share his story about how he has recovered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The newsletter also contained an promotion for Penguins Formal Wear - a corporate member of Momentum offering a 20% discount on any suits hired for the event.
Lastly there was a "final call" for readers to book tickets now followed by a few of the major corporate sponsors' logos.
The beauty of these newsletters is their short length and their newsworthy content. It only takes 5 minutes to read the whole thing - as seeing as most of Momentum's contacts are busy businessmen and clients, 5 minutes is all we have to grab their attention.
After a short lunch/much needed coffee break to regather after a busy morning, it was straight back into work. I worked closely with Barbara to finalise the auction catalogue and have it sent off for printing.
My last task for the day (which was pointed out by a client) was to amend an error in the running sheet for the ball. The times didn't quite match up, hence causing a bit of confusion. After comparing it with last years running sheet, Barbara and I we able to amend the timing of events on the night, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Fingers crossed!!
