Hello Everyone,
My name is Elle Murdoch and I am in my final year of my degree
of Mass Communication with a major in both Public Relations and Web
Communications which has definitely been an interesting mix. I have always
wanted to work in the Public Relations field as it has always seemed so fast
paced, energetic and anything but boring!
I am currently completing my internship at the Mandurah
Performing Arts Centre, where I complete the roll of managing all social media
communications for the organisation. I work as the only intern in the organisation
so there is always a lot of work to be done.
Working for a Performing Arts Centre has been a real eye
opener for me as I now understand the fast paced environment that we will need
to be working in as a Public Relations officer. There is always something going
on at the Centre and we are constantly having to think ahead when it comes to
promoting and communicating with our audiences as there are shows playing almost
every week and often more than one playing throughout the week.
Developing social media strategies and managing online
applications is something that I really enjoy doing and I believe is something that
is going to become increasingly important in the public relations field in
years to come. Through studying Web Communications I thought I was well
equipped to undertake the role within the organisation and it has proved to be
both a hard yet exciting task to complete.
The people that I work with are extremely helpful and it has
been a pleasure for me to be able to learn from them throughout the last couple
of weeks.
I hope everyone is enjoying their internships so far and I look
forward to reading about them in the coming weeks and telling you all about
what interesting tasks I have been completing!
