The tricks to event planning!

Hi all,

This blog post is a little late, but better late than never!

In the past few weeks I have been involved in planning three events. These included STYLEAID, a showcase at the Art Gallery of WA and PICA'S annual Salon Vernissage. For these events i was
involved with liaising among other event coordinators, styling, backstage during the event and post event evaluations.

The first tip I will give before taking on event roles like this is be prepared to work 24 hours, seven days a week. When liaising with other event coordinators they expect immediate replies. As I am only doing my internship three days a week I was unable to check emails in between. This caused large amounts of un-needed stress. In future prior to events I will remember to be available at all times.

I have also been involved in generating press from our events. I secured photographers and bloggers for each event to shoot and write-up about Dilettante's involvement. This was successful and drove a large amount of traffic to both our Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Also i have recently secured collaborations with bloggers in the fashion industry. I developed a sale plan to target 15 popular local social media users to post a graphic of our latest sale to their followers in exchange for a store credit. The graphic said:

Mention 'A little birdy told me' to the Dilettante staff for a further 50% off reduced items.

This proved to be an effective social media strategy as 10 of the 15 users agreed to upload the post. Also this was effective in driving traffic into the store as we tallied the amount of clients coming in quoting the 'A little birdy told me'.

Hope this post wasn't too all over the place! I am managing a large amount of public relations strategies at the moment and as I am the only pr/marketing staff member it is pretty crazy!

Keep a look out for my next post on bloggers and their benefits to your business.
