It's not the end it's only the beginning!

Hi again everyone!

My time interning at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre is coming to an end, I only now have one day left until my 20 days interning are complete.

Over my last few days at Mandurah Performing Arts have been spent doing to usual…posting on Social Media, responding to comments, reviews, enquiries etc. on various different platforms that the Centre has. This was my common role when interning at Mandurah Performing Arts as they do not employ anyone to look after the Public Relations side of their business, so it often gets over looked. As we all know by now after studying Public Relations that in today’s environment social media is a vital part of keeping publics involved and aware of what is going on.

Recently, Mandurah Performing Arts has put in an enquiry relating to holding some of the performances from the Fringe Festival down in Mandurah. The big picture is to hold the event over five days from the end of January to the beginning of February in 2015, each night there will be two or three shows held in each of the theater's holding at least 30 shows over the five nights. The plan is to then transform outside of the Centre into a mini Fringe Festival with pop up food stalls, bars and entertainment running constantly throughout the five days.

This is a fabulous idea to take Mandurah Performing Arts Centre to a new level and attract a whole new market to the events of the centre. At the moment there is a lot of work going into planning this event and making sure that it is a viable option for the centre in relation to financing etc. I have also been asked back to work at this ‘mini’ Fringe Festival on the Public Relations and Social Media side of the event, which is very exciting! Although there is a lot of work to be done, so I better get started!

Hope you all have had an excellent time completing your internships and I look forward to reading more about them!

I just wanted to say congratulations on completing your 20 days, what a massive accomplishment. I too have nearly finished my 20 days and what an amazing learning experience it has been.

Its great to hear your massive role on the social media front, I agree social media is an integral role in the 21st century and its imperative that we know how to effectively and efficiently utilise its potential.

I 100% agree with you "It's not the end it's only the beginning", next year we will embark on the next chapter of our lives and this Unit has enabled us to get a small insight into the potential future of the Public Relations field.

I wish you luck on your future endeavours.

Hey Elle!

Big congrats for finishing your internship with Mandurah Performing Arts Centre!

It's great to hear that you could add to the company by providing work that is usually overlooked as they don't have anyone in PR. It seems that you have definitely made an impact as they have recognised your work and asked you to continue to help them out!

Social media is crucial for businesses these days as it can be used as an easy platform to communicate with a large audience. In todays age, social media has become so significant that there are roles out there specific just for this! Maybe this is something you could consider for yourself next year as you have gained some relevant experience and knowledge on this.

I wish you best of luck with your future endeavours!

Hi Elle!

Sounds like you have really enjoyed your time at the Performing Arts Center!

We have definitely shared similar experiences in our internships relating to social media aspect of you role. I too was very involved in helping WAFarmers establish an online presence for their events as well as providing information on what would engage the younger generation more on facebook and twitter. WAFarmers is not for profit so it vital that use social media to their advantage as it is very cost effective and can reach such a large audience.

This new event you have shared information about sounds very interesting too and i think it is a very clever idea by the Arts Centre to create more of buzz around the arts in the Mandurah community.

However these multiple day events do take a lot of time, planning and dedication and in my own experience at my internship we had to put aside a major event because it was too big to organise in time.

Best of luck to you next year!

Kind regards
