Hi all,
I have now completed my required time at my placement Dilettante.
As I worked for the company prior to taking a public relations placement there my experience as a whole was a little different. It was a small business with little public relations procedures in place and few staff which could dedicate time to these. The lack of a public relations presence in this business meant that I had a lot of freedom to introduce strategies however this also meant a lot of work needed to be done.
My priority throughout the placement was simply to develop and introduce procedures and strategies so their was structure to an area of the business which was often left aside. I also focused on gaining press in targeted magazines and newspapers as well as creating an effective and curated social media presence.
In my final weeks at Dilettante I constructed an exclusive media release for The West Australian. Dilettante received its first delivery by Antonio Marras. To build awareness I constructed a short media release and pitched it to the fashion editor of The West Australian for the Wednesday style page. It turned out that the fashion editor loved the collection and she featured the designer on her page. This was great as it was my first effective media release for the company. I am still waiting for other media releases and photo shoots to go to print for other media outlets such as The STM.
I enjoyed my time at Dilettante and I have decided to continue my role within the public relations and marketing team at this business.
Regards,
Kelvin
