Okay, so back to my internship. The first meeting i had with the management team of Dynamic Flame was om 6th of September (a while back i know, I was just got so caught up with other stuff and didn't have time to update :p). We were informed by the secretary of the club, Anita Diep, via email. The meeting was held at the Heatridge Leisure Center. "Why would a meeting be held at a leisure center?" that was my first thought when i first received the email. But soon, i found out why.
We actually had a badminton session before the meeting! How cool/fun is that?
So the actual meeting was scheduled at 3pm but we were invited to have a badminton session from 1pm to 3pm. So I went there, played a few games and all of them are so good. i actually recognised some faces of my colleagues from a few badminton tournaments I joined before and trust me, they are really good, mostly champions in Open Tournaments and they represented Curtin to the Uni Games this year.
There were four other people who have just joined Dynamic Flame at the same time as I have.
The meeting started off by Norm introducing us to everyone. Then, i had to present my fundraising ideas to everyone.
I was shy because throughout my uni years, i was never good at presenting, speaking in front of everyone. Presenting is my weakest as English is my second language and i guess i'm just afraid of how people might think of me and my ideas.
But everyone was being so nice despite how i found myself stuttering and having troubles actually expressing myself. They were so patient and actually showed interests in my ideas which made me more relaxed and comfortable in presenting.
They would actually listen to you and give you feedbacks and suggestions on how to make the idea better.
the meeting was short and simple and took only around 45 minutes.
Few days after the meeting, we each received a meeting minute from the secretary and I saw my ideas were being accepted and actually scheduled to be held in October.
it is just so encouraging how you are just a uni student and haven't even graduated but they just appreciate and respect your ideas.
Back in Malaysia, people or so-called adults/seniors do not really take your opinions into considerations as we were considered to be too young and inexperience. I guess this is one the reasons of my lack of confidence and the fear of public speaking.
and i guess that's the difference i feel when i do my internship here than in Malaysia and i'm glad i chose to do it in Perth.
That's all for today! i hope you guys enjoy reading and cheers to the end of my internship soon! :p i hope you guys are doing well too! till my next post! bye!

Hi Lee,
I was reading your post and I know exactly what you mean I finished my internship some time ago now and I am juggling finishing my report as well as two other units along with a full time job. it does get very difficult at times but its all going to be worth it. the thought of finally being finished is probably the only thing that has kept me going.
I'm glad your enjoying your internship and hope you get as much out of it as I did.
Regards,
Damon Bull.
