Hi
first of all let me mention that I am a student from Seychelles doing my internship
in a Mauritian public relations agency known as Maluti communications. As
expected one of the task expected to be done was a media update and as a
Seychellois I got the chance to update the media information from my country.
As I am in Mauritius accessing the media information for the media outlets in
Seychelles was a challenging task as not all newspapers tends to be independent
of politics or not all newspapers have a website whereby the contact information
can be accessed. Being a Seychellois student I was able to give my contribution
to the company and was asked to update the Ministers list from my country. I was
able to finish the task but guess what. There was a reshuffle in the cabinet
office of Seychelles, Four new ministers was appointed while two other
ministers left their office.
The
list of ministers also is expected to be updated and as there has been a
cabinet reshuffle the ministers list for Seychelles had to be re updated from
the previous updated ministers list. The ministers list and the media update done
showed how in public relations some research and background knowledge is
expected. In the public relations field, contact details is important and
keeping up to date with any changes that has been made in the country’s presidential office.

Hi Hannah,
I think it's amazing that you were able to work on your country. It's always interesting to hear about how the media and public relations is abroad.
I do agree that updating media lists is important, as it allows the organisation to have contact information of people in media readily available. It makes it easier for sending out media releases, for example. The public relations officer can easily track to whom to send those media releases and where to send them.
I hope you have been enjoying your internship,
Stacey.
