It`s been a long time since I last posted on my blog. This was mainly because of the overload of works and all the recent public holidays. By the way Kung Shee Fat Choy everyone!!!
Last week has been very exhausting and challenging for me. The whole week I`ve been updating the media contact list which was around 30 pages. Great thanks to an ex CTI student who`ve done her internship at Maluti Communications as she already compiled all the relevant information and I just needed to call back so as to update it. (We already know how she is but I do not want to mention her name as she regularly check my blog post!!!)
Although my task was only to update, I never thought it will be so time consuming to call and research the different information to verify them. And last week was especially not the best one as with two public holidays most people were absent and some just wanted to get rid of me. (Had to put myself on Zen mode!)
However, by the end of the week I was finally able to finish the update list. I was very happy that the work was finally done but I was too enthusiastic. After that I was asked to modify the media contact list and put it in a simpler way so it can be fixed on the office notice board.
After this week I do not want to read or hear about any newspaper, magazines and radio stations ever!!! Just take a look at the quantity of newspapers and magazines I needed to search information in, and this is not even one quarter of the total I`ve read.
Apart form this I was shocked to find out in fact how much companies requires the help of PR Officers. The office phone never stop ringing the whole day and even the major clients do not stop calling one of the director. Now when there is no phone ringing for 30 minutes it is very weird, as normally some companies calls around 3 to 4 times a day concerning all and everything, from designing an email signature to a Facebook post for Valentine`s Day.
Now I really understand what it means to be a PR officer, it is very exhausting, always on your mobile phone, computer, running and traveling everywhere for meetings, and also lots and lots amount of coffee!!!
Hope everything is going fine for you, cannot wait to hear of your PR experiences. By the way, it is the last week of the summer holiday.See you in on Monday!!!

Hi Darren,
When reading your blog it make me think about my own experience during my placement. For calling people around was not a pleasant task as we need to ask for several information and at time the same thing so many times without having the right person or having the right information.
However this experience helped to be more confident while asking an information through the phone as I am now aware that calling a person and asking for an information is not so difficult as long as there is someone to answer the phone.
Hope you get great experience during placement.
Cheers.
