Social media in PR

As my second week began I was given new tasks whereby unlike the media and Minister’s update that I had to do I had to create a Facebook account for a client.
The task required creating a Gmail account and creating a Facebook account from the Gmail account. When asked to do this task I had to research on how to create a page without having to create a Facebook account. Through research I found that it was previously possible to create a Facebook page without an account, but there have been changes; it now requires that a Facebook account be created before a Facebook page can be created.

After having created the page it may be concluded that as a PR professional keeping up to date with changes; even changes within the social media and how it works need to be kept in mind. Research matters and details matters too,
Social media is very useful for PR as they are used to connect with the clients and the publics and can help to bring awareness about a company.
Speaking about keeping up to date the Facebook account of the company had to be kept up to date to as in it needs constant updating. As an intern I have had my chance to contribute in helping keep the Facebook page updated.

Social media is a very important tool in public relations and is very useful bringing awareness. The PR agency also makes use of social media to pass on the message and it is useful in promoting the agency and its clients. It is useful for communications as it simplifies communication between the agency and its public.

Hi Hannah,

I couldn't agree more with your point! we are in a constantly evolving era and the one skill all communication professionals must have is the capacity of being aware of the latest technology and advances.

Just the week before as we were monitoring our facebook page we couldn't understand why some people could use the tag option while others could not. Finally it is a feature to unlock in the privacy settings.

Something that i assure you is new.

Still, as a PR student, you and i both i assume, would not let such an obstacle interfere with our work!

And i hope you continue like that !
