Greetings all !
It's few days to my project and surprisingly, I feel calm ? Is it a good sign or not.? I guess it is because I have settled everything before this very week.
What have I done ? Lets read through !
Referring to my previous post, had my downs as all of the veterinarian are not available on the 28th March. But, God listen to my prayers, He send me good news every single day ! One by one, things turns out perfectly fine !
Finally, after waiting for quite some time, the veterinarian (also the owner) of Live Animals Medical Centre, Dr. Ling Tung King personally call me and ask about the talk. Good news, he can make it for the talk ! Dr. Ling Tung King also manage to get his groomer to do the talk on grooming. Now, cofirmed to speakers for Cat's Health and Grooming on Cats. Once Dr. Ling confirmed, I forward to him the speaker feedback form for him to fill in for documentation and Master of Ceremony of the event purposes.
Later on, I received a call from Kinky Fat Chef Kitchen (KFCK - burger stall) owner, Mr. Abang Khardafi and he told me he heard the event from a colleague in Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri and said he would want to sponsor and support the event by providing refreshments for the speakers and the event's committee members. I accept the offer. (Back on 2013, I wrote food review on KFCK for Curtin Univeristy, Miri's magazine. After the review, students and public know the existence of KFCK in Miri. KFCK is the best and first home made grilled-style burgers !)
On the same day, a good friend of mine, Mr. Wan Talip, owned a restaurant, Sri Saribas. As he also have the passion towards cats, he also agree to sponsor and support the event by providing refreshment for the audience of the event.
Before this, I did ask for sponsorship from a cat organisation in Miri, Miri Cats Community (MCC) but previously, they turn down as they do not have budget, but the very next day after I accept KFCK and Sri Saribas's offer, MCC key people rang me up and agree to offer photo booth for the talk.
Few days later, I thought, why don't I give a call to NAJA Enterprise (entertainment company in Miri) to sponsor a balloon arch. I had the owner of NAJA's phone number, Mr. Walid so, I give him a call, explain to him about my event and without asking any questions, he agree.
Alhamdulillah ! Everything went smoothly for sponsorship. For my event, CatsFurLife talk, it will be supported by KFCK, Sri Saribas, MCC and NAJA.
Once everything is confirmed, I need to do two things; notice and media release. So, I did my notice before and with the new information, I had to redo the notice and organized it accordingly with the related information. What I learn in designing the notice is it is okay to use a lot of colors in the notice, so long as it contrast with the wordings.
After that, I did the media release, send it over for my supervisor to check and when teh feedback was okay, I forward it to key reporters for certain newspapers in Miri such as Utusan Sarawak, Borneo Post. This is because the story is in Miri, hence, sending the media release to newspapers in Miri.
As I am counting days to my event, I have sort out the door-gifts for the audience, token of appreciation for the speakers and certificate of sponsorship to the sponsors. Other than that, I also manage to get Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri's canteen to provide the drinks for the speakers and committees.
What I want to highlight here is the important thing of being a PR person is you have to surround yourself with people, get to know people / public, networking, create good relationship with people. Back to the basic, PR is about establishing and maintaining the relationship.
