Hi everyone,
Well the time has come...the 20 days are over....my last blog post!
I cant believe my incredible
Internship at Beaufort Street Network has come to an end. From when I first
asked my supervisor Pam for the internship opportunity I was just looking for basic PR experience and
what an experience this has been. I have learnt more than any lecturer could
explain in a semester, this was invaluable hands on experience!
I honestly can’t believe how
remarkable everyone from the BSN committee is, they have given me a new meaning to the
word community. I have seen the amount of effort that is involved in not-for-profit organisations; a lot of determination and hard work. Its incredible that BSN committee members all do this for their 'side' job even though their own jobs are busy and stressful they always fine time to put in 100% to BSN and have achieved so much during my time such as revamping art murals, shop local campaign and the creating the prettiest cook books to be sold at the festival.
Before I started I hadn't really realised the effect a community could have if they all work together not only does it create a better place to live, work and socialise. I may be biased BUT Mount Lawley is the place to be/be seen/be at... all thanks to everything BSN has contributed there is always something creative along the strip.
I hope everyone else has enjoyed their internships and semester. I cant believe this is my final semester in ready for the big "real world" this internship has given me unbelievable experience and has pushed me mentally to heights I never thought were possible which was a great confidence booster. My last friday was sad to think its the end of a good chapter but my lovely supervisor gave me $150 voucher and we all drank fancy champaign by reflecting on my time so if there was any way to leave this was the way...
Over and out for the last time,
Alexi Chesson

Hey Alexi
Nice to read about your last blog post!
I have been interning in the NFP sector as well. Do you think you want to work in this field now you have had some experience in it?
All the best,
Anouka
Hi Anouka,
I just read your latest blog post and loved it congratulations on the job offer thats so amazing you must of done a great job! I absolutely love working for NFP sector but unfortunately BSN doesn't have a budget to pay for any staff :( my supervisor was so sad they couldnt employ me I felt so bad but sadly I cant work for free forever haha but back to job hunting im looking in the NFP sector so hopefully something comes up soon :)
All the best for your next chapter!!
Ah that is always a possibility with NFP isnt it. At the moment I am only employed two days a week, I think one reason si the workload isnt heavy enough for them to need me for full time, but also the money factor!
At least you have a great reference from your boss, and have experienced the NFP world!
All the best for your job hunt!
Anouka
