One week down!

My first week as an intern at PPR has been wonderfully eye-opening. I have been welcomed into the agency by Account Managers, Senior Consultants, Junior Consultants, Senior Counsel... all these titles of employees have me confused, but they all sound very important.

The staff at PPR are a strange mix between professional and casual. The environment in the office is very positive and a little relaxed, but each employee is so focussed and dedicated to their work and their clients. This, to me, feels like a great combination.

The best task I was given in this first week was to write an article for GWN7. At first I expressed my confidence in my writing abilities, but as soon as the task was presented, I became nervous and doubted my skills. I was assured by a colleague that I was able to write whatever I liked- there was no wrong way to write this piece. My colleague said she was pleasantly surprised with my efforts and my ability to write an article, as I'm studying PR and not journalism. Though she edited it to make it shorter and sharper, I was quite happy with my efforts! It's going to be exciting to see my article published in the coming weeks.

Another stand out for this week was being introduced to a new event in Fremantle. My job is to speak to talent and book radio interviews with them. I've already improved my communication skills over the week as I've become more comfortable with the client and the job. Working on this event will last the term of my internship, which will hopefully give me an insight into what it's like to constantly liaise with a client.

After my first week, I am still finding my feet and am gradually getting into the groove of this new job. I can't wait to see what my internship will bring next week- every day is different working with a consultancy. I can't wait to increase my scope of work and get know my colleagues more.
