Cardinal Spin is an entertainment
and life style communications agency situated about 10 minutes out of Sydney’s
City. The urban décor, friendly staff and energetic and faced paced work environment
made my heart skip a beat. I couldn’t wait to get started!
Being an entertainment and
lifestyle consultancy, the clients that Cardinal Spin worked with were
incredible. I just missed out on Sydney Film Festival because of my end of
semester exams but I was very privileged to attend two VIP launch parties
during my internship. The first launch party was for a bar in Sydney’s
Darlinghurst and the second was for a Mexican restaurant near the city.
The purpose of these events are to
host all media and VIP guests (including celebrities, models, producers etc) to
a night of networking, great atmosphere, free food and drinks. In turn, these
guests-both media and VIPs- increase the popularity of the venue by publishing
good reviews, posting engaging photos on social media and writing articles on
their experience of the night. Ultimately, these parties exist to raise awareness
and anticipation over the venue when it opens to the public.
Leading up to the event it was
crucial to send email invites to anticipated guests and to kindly follow up on
them if they haven’t responded. Our job was to make sure the event ran as
smoothly as possible and that all of our guests turned up and had a good
time. Most media and VIP guests get a
plethora of invitations to these sorts of events on a weekly basis so it’s
important for a PR agency to make the event as enticing as possible which
Cardinal Spin did so well.
My eyes were opened to a whole new
world of flashing cameras, networking and talented industry professionals. This
makes me so excited for the future. In saying that, hard work and commitment is
the driving force to success in this industry but I am certainly willing to
give it a go!
