Prior to the lead up of the event we had our final briefing meeting with the team, to ensure everybody was aware of what was happening on the day, any last minute details and what was required of each of us.
Some of these include:
- Maddy will be sending out the media alert to TV Chief of Staff and radio news producers
- Each PPR team member is responsible for contacting their ambassador and the store they are visiting to ensure everyone is happy and ready for tomorrow
- Please make sure you have your ambassadors mobile saved in your phone and you send your ambassador your mobile
- Send a text or email to your ambassador in the morning to say you are on your way and excited to kick start McHappy Day!
- Grab some balloons to take with you tomorrow in case you have limited activity tomorrow
- Encourage your ambassadors to Instagram and Tweet as much as possible #McSocks #McHappy Day
Although this could seem quite nerve-racking for some, I think a key thing which I have learnt over my time is to just breath and enjoy it, there will always be somebody behind you from the organisation to back you up and give you the support to get rid of those pesky nerves!
My college and I visited four stores in the Northern suburbs, Wanneroo, North Perth, Joondalup and Ballajura where we met My Kitchen Rules Perth contestents Chloe and Kelly, as well as Chiara Zaffino from Channel 10 and Beau and Daniel also reports for Channel 10. It was great to meet the ambassadors and tell them what to do for once! As a PR consultant I have learnt to be more assertive and confident, a lot of people are relying on you to deliver the direction!
When the photographer turned up to capture some shots for the media we had to direct the ambassadors on what we wanted them to do..
Below is a picture of Tracey Vo from Channel 9 with the character Hamburgler in the Wanneroo store!
All in all it was a good, successful day with lots of the proceeds going to a great cause. Even better news for me was that I was asked to stay on for extra time at PPR to help them out! All the hard work really does pay off!!!

Sounds like the day went really well congrats! You make some good points about making sure you have your ambassadors details saved should you need to contact them :) I know I always had my ambassadors phone number handy! I'm glad your organisation made you feel supported and relaxed, I feel like this is so important in a work environment. I would love to hear if you had any situations when your nerves got the better of you and how you dealt with this? I will definitely try to be more assertive and confident! Sometimes I forgot how much this can help those around me relying on my direction.
Best,
Gemma
