The constantly updating modified world of the nightclub and hospitality industry definitely has its perks in Perth. Everyone knows someone to get you to meet someone and networking is key. Where events are concerned the most common change is that events have become their own person sometimes across the country clubs are purely a venue and an event is now what promotes everything to the public. It is a new middle man!
In the early stages of establishing a Saturday Night scheme The Game Sports Bar is trying to meet so many demographics. In small Perth it is hard to make your mark when competition is high as their are either to many venues doing the same event or not enough. This internship has taught me a thing or two about doing your research. Where use of focus groups can be utilised to understand what people want many tools of analysis have enabled me to within the first weeks establish strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats. Whilst strategically analysis of competitors often brings answers to the table.
This small organisation has allowed me to implement tools of analysis whilst ensuring daily tasks are met as well as deadlines. The fast paced industry means xy and z need to be done in order for events to be promoted and run. Schedules have to be ready and consumer engagement upheld to a high standard.
Still growing and only established for a year they have come along way and as my time comes to an end i wish them the very best in future success and thank them for my experience.

Hi Tamika,
I had never thought about doing an internship at a bar as i didn't know if there would be much to do. But after reading your blogs i realise i am clearly wrong! I completely agree with needing to come up with Perth's demographics and the only way to find out about which stakeholders The Game should target is through analysing. It would have been really interesting to see how you did that as i havn't been exposed to those sort of techniques yet!
9 news have recently posted a video of a Perth night club owner making strict guidelines of a 'no pleb zone' to improve the dress standards. The owner believes WA perth bars are becoming more and more similar and that's his way to become 'unique.' How do you feel about this? Did you come up with some ideas for events? How did you come up with them seeing as Perth night life is a hard one to 'please' and they all do similar events.
Thanks for a great read,
Caris
