My 3rd entry for the semester and 3 days before I finish my placement on Sunday. To be honest, it's been an overwhelming experience and I don't quite fancy the idea of sharing mundane tasks here.
As a matter of fact, I'm rather jealous of most of everyone's experiences as you have a set PR supervisor overseeing your work and your progress. Where I'm at, I have to start much of the PR groundwork from scratch - reason being, the organisation have nothing concrete to begin with. Yes, you may say, "What were you thinking?" I know, I'm beginning to question the same myself. I never knew it'd be so daunting and it being a charity should make the experience a fulfilling one, would it not? I reckon otherwise.
I know everyone else knows how office politics can be the hugest hurdle to conquer. And I tell you, it hasn't been quite pleasant to be working in an office where I have to compete for a workstation with volunteers who come in to do database management. And it was only recently that it dawned on me how frustrating it can be to plan ideas, prepare the materials, only to realise it hasn't been fully acted upon.
The entire place can be crazy busy at times and swarmed with people. And even more annoying, when staff/volunteers have to play 'tag' with me over my supervisor. Whilst she wants me to continue volunteering in the PR side of things after these 20 days, I'm contemplating about other aspects of volunteering with the organisation.
It's two weeks to when the report's due. And to top that off, like my peers, I have other assignments/tests as well. But that's not what's making me feel down. It's just that, towards the end of this placement, part of me really want to leave; yet another says I should come back and volunteer but perhaps not with the PR side of things.
Aunt Agony, anyone?

I am sorry to hear that you are not having the best of times, Siti – however, you have probably gained a very good insight into the dynamics of non for profit organisations. Even if you should choose to turn down the opportunity to continue in a PR capacity, at least they have recruited a new volunteer.
On a positive note: you will have a lot to write about in your report and most certainly won’t lack on recommendations. Just keep in mind that due to financial restrictions the fight over computers and work places in general is fairly common, particularly in smaller non for profit organisations.
You would have definitely gained a lot of insight – which will help you with your future work, either with your current – or any future organisation.
