Congrats everyone for finishing your internship!
It's been quite awhile since i finished my internship but somehow when i read everyone's blogs, it just seem to bring back memories; so i'm writing to share some of my personal experiences.
During my internship, i had joint a large corporation in Singapore and was working in its corporate communications department, assisting its publications team at the office. One of my memorable moments was having to go on my knees in a dirty old storeroom in the office, looking through stalks of archives photos covered in dirt & dust & unknown residue, in search of a photograph taken in the early 1970s. For someone like myself whose allergic to dust, this was indeed a tough request. Ironically, i did not find this a challenge; my supervisor had given me this important task to help search for a front cover photo which was to be used in a special print publication showcasing the firm's past and present developments. Although my name would never appear in the publication nor have i seen the actual print publication; knowing that i've contributed and that my little efforts was appreciated by my supervisor and management was already a success for me.
Note to future PR Managers/ Supervisors:
Never undermine the importance of of an intern, cause when time is the essence to meet deadlines, a helping hand from an intern with the 'dirty' jobs, may just lead to your success.

I couldnt help but laugh when i read your blog about 'the dirty little jobs' because i have been privy to many of those over the last few months at my placement! But not in a bad or negative way.
I have had to take out rubbish bins, babysit the office dog, clean dishes, run errands, do the coffee and tea run, amongst other things! However like you said its these jobs that prove your worth as an intern!
I also think when you enthusiastically take on the little jobs you prove to your employer that your capable of anything and respect the office hierarchy. And i know they appreciated me doing all the things they didn't want to do, because they then allowed me to be responsible for some big jobs also.
I hope you enjoyed working in publishing as much as i did.

Btw, babysitting the office dog to me would be a reward coz i love dogs and animals; i hv one adorable little bichon frise at home too. So, this task won't count to me as 'dirty little jobs' but an enjoyable treat.. hahaha

In applying “Although my name would never appear in the publication nor have I seen the actual print publication; knowing that I’ve contributed and that my little efforts was appreciated by my supervisor and management was already a success for me.” I strong agree with what you said. From what we did for the organisation we are not hoping for awards but some appreciations from them. And I believe they always did. A simple ‘Thank You’ from them will really cheer us up quickly. Also appreciations help us to be more confidence in our own abilities too.
