My First Post ......

Hi everyone,

My name is Hilda. I am doing my internship at Curtin University in Corporate Communication. I am doing Mass Communication majoring in Journalism and Public Relations. This is my last year, and last semester. Hopefully, if i can pass all my units this semester (finger cross). I have been working at Curtin during holiday until August 19^th because I am an Open Day intern. Therefore, I have to be on Open Day which will be held on August 17^th for the whole day. This is a requirement as being an Open Day intern.

Let me tell you my role as an Open day intern, I am helping the event organizer to organize few areas such as fun zone activities, signage, volunteer, clubs and markets, and etc. I have to do research on fun zone activities, compare the prices and book them for the open day. The difficulty that I faced is calling people that we do not know to ask them for quotes. It is because I rarely talk to stranger through the phone. But, as time goes by, I get used to speak to people on the phone.

I ever had a really desperate day during work. It was when I have to book games for fun zone activities, they were not available. My supervisor and I were really desperate because the time was really short and we had to book all the activities on that day. Also, the games were really different from others; only one company has this game in Western Australia. We were a bit upset because of this, but we tried to find other games. So, we had to research again to find another games but we could not find any better games than the one that we wanted. But, finally we made it, we find another games and asked for the quotes. Luckily, the games were available for our open day. It was really a desperate day for me but I can learn something from this situation.
