All the staff was very busy preparing their work because it’s nearly the day of Open Day. I went to meetings to discuss the Corporate Communication staff volunteers’ jobs and student volunteer briefing session. I also attend the meeting of Open Day updated once every two weeks. I did not talk in the meetings, since I did not have any thing to say. Also, everyone has their own work to be reported in the meeting and the time was short. It was interesting enough to hear what were they doing and what they have done. They were helping each other to achieve one goal which is to make the Open Day become successful and everything goes smoothly.
I find working as event organizing sometimes make us feel really stressful but it also makes us feel happy. It depends on the situation, if we have an urgent work that need to be done. It will make us really desperate especially when the person put us under pressure. Also when we have a lot of works to do, it will make us really stress. The solution of this problem is we have to work extra hours, so the next day we come to work; we wouldn’t feel stress anymore.
Have we ever thought what people think about public relations? They will think that public relations practitioners try to hide a bad side of a company that they are working for, and show public the good side of the company. I think this perception is a quite true. Our job as PR person is to protect our company and try to have good communications with others.
But, we never think about the internal staffs from another department who work together with PR practitioners. Do you think they like working together with PR person? I think they hate public relations staffs since PR staffs are telling them what to do. They cannot do whatever they want. Overall, working in PR industry is a big challenge for us.
