My First

Well this is my first of what is to be a few blogs and reading alot of the other blogs.. everyone seems to be having a very intersting and enlightening experience with their chosen companies. I started doing my placement at Sunset Events a couple of weeks ago and i must say I LOVE IT! For those of you who dont no what sunset events is.. they organise the memorable events such as blues and roots and the one and only Southbound, and it feels like an honor to be working with the team that organises these events.

i chose to do my placement here because i have always been an organiser, and as many of my friends have numerously commented on, i love to organise things which lead me to think.. why not get involved in a company that organises things that i love.. especially the team that put together my favorite event of all time.. Southbound!

the experience i am gaining here is phenomenal, i always went to these kind of events and never really looked beyond the event itself and into how much work and effort it takes to get these things to work out. Its murpheys law that when you want something to work out easily it never does.. and i have become to learn that quite quickly working here. I get to do things like help organise and work on the website which looks awsome this year might i say :) and help put together EcoBound which is the environmental aspects that southbound so tirelessly work on as there number one focus! I also get to go to the media launches and numerous other launches for the festival this year which i will write about when they occur.


Even though its only been a couple of weeks here and i havnt really seen all there is to offer with the events and planning in PR, i can say without any question that this is the type of industry i can see myself getting into.. and i mean who doesnt like seeing how there effort and time isnt a waste in the end, when the final result of all your work creates something as unbelievable as what im doing!

On a different note but something i think is quite intersting to note here is the laid back style of the whole team. you would think they would be running around like headless chooks freaking out with the official launch of the website next week and all.. but no its such a friendly and comfortable atmosphere! and when i say comfortable i mean it.. i mean they wear uggies here.. even the directors have their trackies on! I could slip into this workstyle very easily!
