Internship leading to job offer

Hi everybody,

Im currently on a formation programme at the Grand Mauritian Hotel which forms part of the group starwood hotels. The resort is present under the name of the group The luxury collection in Mauritius. I am to work as PR coordinator. I have to report directly to the Director of Communications Mr Jason Barry and to the General Manager.

The PR job consists more of dealing with external media communication compare to my internship where the PR work was based much more on the internal aspect of the organisation. I've been through a tour of the hotel, its amazing !

I've received this offer while on my internship at Four Seasons Resort where I was doing my placement. It makes me very happy.

There is also the fact that the GFC has not affected some parts of the industry, in Mauritius some industries are recruiting massively.. and there's more companies which are outsourcing services from companies implemented here. Im stressing on this part because I know that most of us are in our last sem !

Courage to u all !

Cheers !

Well done I know many people that are looking for jobs at the moment and you obviously worked very hard to be offered a job. Will you be reporting to any one else or are you the only person doing the PR? How exciting for I wish you all the best.

Hello,

Congratulations on such a wonderful job offer! By the sounds of your blog, it seems like you've been given a wonderful opportunity to use the skills you have learnt at university in a real job environment. The hotel industry should be an interesting experience for you also!
Did this particular position that you have been offered exist before or are you the first to fulfill that role? Either way, it is a great achievement.
I'm doing my placement at my current job at Rockend. My supervisor, Marketing Manager and CEO of Rockend have been very supportive over the period of my internship, and have also suggested to me that once I finish my degree at Curtin, if I was still interested in being with Rockend, that I could move over to either Queensland or Sydney to help out the National Marketing Managers with their public relations work, which I can say is a mind-blowing offer!
Again, congratulations.

Emma.

Hello Coby and Emma,

@ Coby: Thx mate ! In fact the Director of Communication, is going back to the head office which is found in the US. So, I will be the only one doing the communication and PR stuffs. I have to report directly to the general manager and the sales director.

@ Emma: thx for the encouraging comment. I have to point out that this is not the same hotel where i did my placement. But I received the offer while I was on internship and what plays in my favour is the fact that I did my placement in the same industry.I am the first to fulfill that role. As I mentioned above, it is to take over all the PR and communication work for the hotel. So I'm actually doing my formation and hand over process.

Once again thank you very much for your cheering words !!

Regards

Abhi

Hi and firstly congratulations on receiving a job offer from your placement! That is fantastic and the Four Season – nice work! It sounds like a great opportunity and what a great position for a graduate to receive! If only we could all be so lucky especially in the economic downturn as you mentioned.
Thanks for the tip that consultancies are recruiting that gives us some hope for finding a job as you said because the majority of us on this blog are graduating at the end of the semester. Good luck with your job and I hope that you not only excel but enjoy it as well!
Good luck for the future!
