Skills Reinforcement

Hello everyone, I do believe that by now we all have started our internship, if not, I wish you all the best for you to get placements.

I have started my internship on November 16 and, this is my fourth week and I am working at Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM). For the past weeks, I learned that school is never out for a profession. Higher responsibility and accountability is essential to growth as a key to interns like me and team leaders move into management roles. I have been doing media monitoring, media clipping, media kit and many more. Working under a professional body, IPRM often organizes professional talk series as a significant of training and development for every PR practitioners as a way of preparing them for their professional careers in PR. Recently two books were launched written by the president of IPRM Prof, Dato’ Mohd. Hamdan Adnan. These books are 'The Growth of Government Public Relations and Politics in Malaysia' and 'Government Public Relations and Politics in Malaysia'. The books were launched under the topic 'The role of public relations practitioners in making 1Malaysia a success.

Learning new skills is essential to develop a rewarding career for advancement possibilities. On a scale of one to five highest, rate yourself in the 10 areas, if you are below for in any area, it may be time to get back to these basics and recharge yourself. As an intern, radiating a sense of certainty from having developed skills, industry knowledge and all-round competency levels will help me to have confidence in my work. To be a top achiever and for the organization to be successful, I have learned that having the responsibility in as a team player will make a difference. Working as a team player created good ideas which look for our own solutions and through the help of other team members 'experienced' it definitely helps to come to a conclusion at the end of the day.

As a team, we all know that key clients and accounts demand the attention of the assigned representatives. Therefore, working together produced solutions and new applicants that work best for IPRM members. This is same like what we have learned in school. In so doing, focusing on client relationships creates a long term period between each other. Therefore, the intangible services and high-tech products increases daily. In most cases, it is the client relationship that is most important solutions and results as second and lastly products and services. Overall, the attitude is not turned on or off by the monthly or quarterly budgets and targets management sets. However, hardworking is the fundamental to progress and with our
IPRM members, team members and employers.

The overall success of IPRM and what I have learned is that, the success is greatly impacted by the organization willingness and ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with everyone who is directly and indirectly connected with their success.

Thank you

Tabona, LUCT
