AV Asia Communications operates as AVEC Communications and they specialize in the fields of Public Relations, Advertising & Promotions as well as Corporate Communications. I started my internship on the 1st of December 2009 and during my first week at AVEC I was brought on board one of their big projects for the first half of 2010, the publication of a coffeetable book called "Pusaka". When directly translated, "Pusaka" means heritage, and the book is about environmental heritage and conservation. It got me pretty excited because I'm pretty much a tree-hugger so the project was perfect for me! The best part of this project was that it was being commissioned by Landskap Malaysia, which is an organization started by the former Malaysian First Lady, Tun Jeanne Abdullah - which meant I'd be working with her! More about the "Pusaka" project in my next post update.
Besides that, I've also been working on dealing with the media for Masterskill University College of Health Sciences (MUCH), which is one of our retaining clients. I handled the media invites and press conference during the "Masterskill 1Unity" Program that was held in conjunction with the nation's efforts in promoting cultural diversity in Malaysia. Present at the event was the Princess of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Raja Azureen and Malaysian Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat. Prior to the event, I was trained on media handling and getting in contact with the media. The post event involved media monitoring to ensure what the coverage of the event was like and this included the print and broadcast industry.
So till my next post on the "Pusaka" project, I hope everyone's been having a wonderful New Year and Good Luck for the rest of your internship! :)
