Intership at the Central Water Authority

Hi everyone!

Hope your internship is going on well.

I've been at the Central Water Authority (CWA) around approximately 17 days. The CWA distributes potable water to the whole population of Mauritius. They dont actually have a PR department but there is a Communication's officer, Mr. Narain, who performs all PR tasks there.

The main tasks i have been assigned are the organisation of the World Water Day 2010 and design a PR plan on how to encourage people to pay their CWA bills by Direct Debit.

For the World Water Day, the company is organising a conference for the public. My main tasks until now have been to a design a checklist for the activity, look for a catering service and design a draft of a media kit that Mr Narain has to check before we send it to the press.

I have also designed a brochure on the that will be distributed for on that day.

People have been telling me that doing my internship in the public sector will not bring me much experience and that i will be doing photocopies and sending faxes. well i've been doing that too but i have also helped in organising a conference where different ministers and high personalities will be present.
