Workshop on Convergent Journalism

On the 25th to 29th of January i had an opportunity to attend the Convergent Journalism workshop which was made mainly for journalist in the Asia-Pacific Region. My main task as part of my public relations internship was to observe how the workshop was conducted then later wrote a report about the workshop. This workshop was part of the training offered by the organisation to the broadcasters and media professionals in the Asia-Pacific region. Training is one of the organisation's most important mandate. Looking at how public relations operates when organizing an event, objectives for the workshop were met. This included equipping journalists with knowledge on how convergent journalism work as well as how to apply it in their daily lives. Time was also managed well and the planning for the workshop well executed as journalists were well informed in time about the workshop. Schedules on how the workshop was going to run were made well in time. Participants of the workshop at the end completed the evaluation forms which would later help the organisation to get feedback which may be helpful to determine whether the workshop was successful or not. Again the evaluation made could help make some improvements where necessary when it comes to arranging workshops.
The workshop taught me that in my public relation work, i should always maintain good lines of communication between people i am working with and those involved when planning an event for it to be successful. At the end the Convergent Journalism workshop was a success.
