Training in Media Prima Berhard exposes me to a lot of things not only PR related but also related to the field of Mass communication.Media Prima owns 4 Tv stations, 3 radios, newspapers, event management group, content creation, outdoor advertising etc (ALL IN ONE ROOF).Its a great pleasure to be part of Media Prima corporate team because im given access to its above mentioned subsidiaries and the taste of PR profession.
Media prima indulge more into PR activities such as media monitoring, Corporate social responsibility, events management, reinforcing media relations, stakeholder relations; employees and clients relations, the general public as its audience and viewers as well as government relations.
At school i only had a clue of how the organisation deals with the above key publics indicators, but since i joined Media Group everything is life no more imaginations. i have a big picture of what public relations is because i'm also part of the team and i make things happen.
my first week i was introduced to monitor how the media covers the company; reading newspapers and Blog monitoring. i learned a lot of things from this task. At first i thought that the aim of monitoring the media is to see its coverage of the company, but i discovered that media monitoring is very crucial for a firm to spot its competitors in order to position itself well in a very competitive environment. As a PR practitioner, you have to be equipped with what is happening around you and the world at large, so media monitoring increased my awareness of the world's activities.
i'm so glad to be among the loving family 'Media Prima' with spirit of togetherness and its a privilege to see myself in a real working environment as specially in a corporate communication where PR is flowing..........

This is a reminder for EVERYONE! Please keep in mind that
a) you are posting in a public forum and
b) your are training to be professional communicators.
This means: carefully crafted and thought through posts.
OF COURSE, the blog environment is slightly more relaxed, however, text language and poor grammar are not acceptable. Your posts will remain visible to future employers - so make sure you make the right impression!
wow, that's great stuff. its a big thing so keep it up guys. im so impressed by this.
Hi!!! Naledi.
I like it when you say, " life is no more imaginations" you are now implementing what you have learned from class into practice. Your company is very luck because there is no need to beg other media houses to cover your events, if other media does not cover your event, with all the radios, tvs and the newspapers you have you just cover for yourself, from there you revenge when they want you to to cover their events.
In deed media monitoring is not only about the content of the article, its also about monitoring your competitors, when you know what they do, you can improve what you do at your organisation to be the best.
keep those post coming. enjoyur stay at media Prima.
Hey Star,
you really landed a nice spot because pr is all about positioning. i think the company you are in will benefit you alot if you milk the environment for all its worth. pr really is not a classroom subject,it totally requires venturing out into the real world and rubbing shoulders with real pr professionals. the taste is a bit different in the beginning but then in the end you start to fit right in and cope with all the work you have to do. i hope you absorb as much as you can from Media Prima, the sky is the limit.
