SMOOTH OPERATION BY ROOTZ

HEY GUYZ!!!

This is my second week and already I am learning a lot. There was a conference organized by our event management team and I was also involved because they wanted me to learn more as Public relations is not only limited to paper work, there are many areas to it, including servicing,Reputation management, customer satisfaction feedback. We had an Avnet Huawei (our client) conference to help create the visibility of their IT solution product (Internet Protocol version 6) and there was a demonstration to show case how it works. According to me I think this conference was to help engage with the stakeholders, bringing the product to the faces of the consumers, which promotes a relationship between them and their clients, in addition it was to mark Avnet’s milestone of making a new mark of technology.

On the conference day I felt I lacked profession because I did not know how to act, hands in my pockets, hold a bottle, or stand still as a post. It was one of the challenges I faced, luckily I had my work colleagues to back me up on anything needed, they helped me through the whole event as it was my first which shows good relations in a work place.

My duty was to escort Avnet’s partners and clients to the registration counters and ensuring that their needs were met, which at first I thought was boring however later on I felt proud about it because everything the clients would ask me to an extent of interaction. What an experience. Rubbing shoulders with some of the shareholders of big companies, people from different ministries. This I must say was an exciting experience and an opportunity not to be missed.
The event management team suggested a lucky draw, which was done towards the end of the event. This was strategic, the first 100 delegates or should I say the registered clients for the event dropped their business cards on the draw box to win themselves some of the technological gadgets. Another strategic thing we did, was providing evaluation forms for everyone, so to get their feedback on the event which to my understanding, its more like two way communication which is one of approaches to public relations developed by James Grunig and Todd Hunt.In the effort to create awareness about the event, we did telemarketing and disseminated information in newspapers to publicize the event and the results where impressing there was a huge turn up by the delegates. This shows the success of the event planning as we also got good response from the clients because they all stayed till the end of the Event. At the end of the day I would say i enjoyed the event because I got to meet a lot of clients and knowing them and I should say it was quite cheerful experience, as I also played a amazing role.Hope you also get the chance to explore more working with the event crew.

cheerios...

Thanx Molly, yah you so right we learning a lot and with 100% assurance of becoming great PR officers of the future. hahah.

Before my completion of my placement i would say i am really thankful to my supervisors because with the skills i got got from them, i can think out of the box. I am now having an open mind, but then i would say its not easy because its up to an individual, its all about one's mindset, if you tell yourself you going to make it work, accepting whatever you taught at work and not letting any obstacles come your way then good...
You right Molly we could have used the experience to help us with the PR300 pitching.

NOW LETS ENJOY OUR PLACEMENTS.
