Hi Everyone
It's been a while since I entered anything in my blog but the thing is its so sad to say goodbye. My placement came to an end on the 6th of this month, but I have to say I couldn't have chosen a better company to experience being part and parcel of the working life. My placement was truly an eye opening experience in the arena of PR, and I have to say I had a very nice boss and colleagues.
My first week was a bit frightening as I was the only intern so I felt a bit out of place but SJA made all the efforts to make me feel at home.
What i can say I definitely took away from SJA is what teamwork and determination can really do. The thing is SJA even though it is a boutique sized agency they have a bite as strong enough as a full grown and well established PR firm, and the reason for their success is team work. PR is not a one man show and it takes a lot of patience and relationship building to get from point A to B. More so is that once those relationships are forged, be it with clients, the media, colleagues stakeholders, or whoever it may be, a lot of effort is directed into maintaining those relationships. i realize now that PR is more of a win-win situation for all the parties involved and is not at all a matter of spin doctoring, astroturfing, blue washing and greenwashing. I am not saying that these elements do not exist, but the ethical fibre of each individual agency is what comes into question and play in these instances. I have learnt that it all depends on the leadership and integrity of the workforce in determining whether they choose the unethical approach or the upright and transparent approach. Great oratory skills and vast general knowledge bank are an added advantage and current events/affairs I now know is a must in PR.Plus PR is not about being pushed and instructed what to do, it's about taking the initiative and showing what creative new ideas you can generate to the company. Its not like most office jobs where your supervisor dumps work piles on your desk for you to get through by the end of the day, it rather involves alot of networking, interaction and interpersonal skills. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture.
My advice love what you do and get into it full force and you will milk whatever it is for all its worth.Give 100% and you will get 200% back. Thank you SJA for the opportunity and all you guys I wish you luck in all your endeavors. Cheerios!

Hello!
I totally agree with you when you talk about team work.
It is so important to feel welcome in a group and to be able to trust each of its members.
It is also so important to be able to count on people, to be able to ask questions and to be able to do mistakes without fearing to being penalised.
It exactly the feeling I had while working at the Legends and it is mainly because of this team spirit and the relatioship I created with my colleagues that I enjoyed my internship.
Congratulations for your internship and good luck for the report!
