Good Bye Air Mauritius

I hope your internships are going strong! I can’t believe it that it’s the end of my PR 393 internship. This month has gone by just too fast but it has been rather insightful and a fun learning process. I must say that I have learnt quite a bit in this short time, not only in PR but about the real working world on the whole.

The best thing about my placement was that I was able to attend the most important event for Air Mauritius which was the Shareholder’s Annual Meeting. This was the highlight of my experience, from the preparations, attending the actual event and then writing the media release.

I am grateful to Air Mauritius for providing me with this opportunity. The amount of support shown to me throughout this experience was incredible. I never thought that I would be able to put all those skills we have learnt in 3 years at university into practice, but I must say that I have come a long way. I have met some really interesting people such as my manager, the Chairman and CEO of Air Mauritius. I was able to network and create contacts of my own.

I want to say a big thank you to Katharina as well for all the help and encouragement she gave me right from the beginning when I had to apply for my internship till now. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t think I would have been able to cope.

Here are some points I would like to share with you all:

· Be good to your colleagues at work as they will be there to help you with any information you may require and also to maintain a comfortable working environment for yourself. This is the most important aspect in any organisation.

· Know your organisation very well because you would like to be presentable to the clients and not provide them with wrong information.

· You must communicate very clearly so that there is not miscommunication between your colleagues, managers or clients.

· Time management is very important. You must meet deadlines on time and plan your work out so that you know what is to be done first.

· Fresh air after several hours sitting at your desk and working on a computer is a must. It gives you a break and refreshes you so that all those creative ideas some back to you.

To end my post, I wish everyone all the best for the rest of you internships and always remember the experiences and lessons learnt from your placement will last forever and come into use one day!

You are very welcome, Mansha! It was lovely to see you back on campus earlier on today - and to see you all proud and smiley. And so you should be! It sounds like you've had an amazing time at Air Mauritius! Congratulations! I am sure you will have a lot to share with other students in next week's Orientation Session!

Hi Mansha,
I totally agree with all those "tips" you posted and how this experience allowed us to see not just PR in practice but the real working world
